Australian Palms is written by Dr John Leslie Dowe, a scientist who has dedicated his 20-year extensive research on Australian palms in their aspects of biogeography, ecology and systematics.  Dowe presented Australian Palms in an updated and advanced approaches of biogeography, ecology and systematics.  Each species of 60 species (21 genera) is presented with clear, comprehensive and attractive colour photographs and figures including the palm species in their habitats, vegetative and reproductive features, distinguishing characteristics, distribution maps and type specimen pictures.  Recent ecological interests such as palm characteristics in relation to fire and cyclonic disturbance are discussed thoroughly as well as the conservation status.  Therefore this book offers a comprehensive knowledge on palms.
